Which currency should I buy?
As a general rule, you should buy the currency of your destination country. Although US dollars and Euros are generally acceptable, it’s preferable to have the local currency as goods and services are usually priced in local currency. In some cases, the local exchange rate may mean that you will ultimately pay more for local goods priced in US dollars or Euros. Our recommendation is to take advantage of the wide range of “exotic” currencies available at “Onexchange LTD”, either by visiting your nearest branch or ordering, in advance, by telephone or online.
How much foreign currency will I need?
Our advice would be to have as much as you can afford. After all, the aim is to enjoy your trip, particularly if you are going on holiday. Additionally, you will avoid using credit/debit cards or having to exchange money abroad, which can attract expensive additional or hidden charges. Don’t forget our offer: Don’t lose out when you return your unused currency. We buy back the leftover currency you didn’t use at the same rate you bought it from us, commission free (for more details, ask at our branches).
Do I have to order my currency in advance?
“Onexchange LTD” branches hold stocks of most currencies for instant availability. If you wish to order your currency as well as the denomination you desire, please inform us one working day prior to the purchase to guarantee the currency availability. Simply call at 24008834.
Can I buy the currency I need just before my departure?
Our branches at Larnaka International Airport and Paphos International Airport operate 365 a year with a maximum availability upon all currencies. What is more convenient than that?
Can I use my credit/debit card at the shops abroad?
Many retailers abroad accept credit/debit cards as methods of payment. However, you should be aware that the majority of card issuers charge a handling fee around 2.75% of the total value for card purchases. This charge may not be separately itemised but merely incorporated into the total amount charged to your account. We recommend to check your card issuer’s terms & conditions for full details.
Can I use my credit/debit card in ATMs abroad?
Nowadays, most cards are accepted by ATMs abroad but you will need to consider that ATM availability is not always guaranteed at your destination, particularly in more remote areas. Furthermore, withdrawal or cash advance fee, ranging from 1.5% to 2.5%, may also apply over and above the handling fee of 2.75% previously mentioned. Once again, we recommend you check your card issuer’s terms and conditions for full details.
What should I do with my unused currency notes?
If you took advantage of the “Onexchange LTD” ‘Buy/Sell Back’ special offer when purchasing your currency in Cyprus, you can return leftover currency from your trip/holiday and we will buy it from you, commission free, at the same exchange rate used for your purchase. All you need is your original receipt as proof of your initial purchase*.
However, even if you did not manage to take advantage of this special offer, you can still get exceptional value for money by bringing your unused foreign currency to any “Onexchange LTD” bureau de change.
* Terms and Conditions apply.
